I Get Excited When I Set A Date With Jesus

Have you ever been excited about seeing a good friend, or a person from your past you haven’t seen in years? Or maybe, even a relative you haven't seen in a while? Or maybe you’re excited about a fresh date with someone you just met. Or possibly you’ve planned a vacation and you can hardly wait for the day to arrive.

There’s this excitement, an overwhelming exuberating feeling you get coupled with that tingling in your tummy, and warmth in your heart that happens when you’ve planned something special.

You can’t wait until the day, time and moment of your date.

This same euphoria happens when we set a date with Jesus even more so overtime. You may think, how is it possible to set a date with Jesus. There are times when we need to make immediate contact with Jesus, without a doubt he is always available. In addition, there are times when we can look forward to talking with Jesus. These are times when we know in our heart, with expectation that God is going to fill us up until it overflows. We’ll receive from Jesus just what we need to keep going. He will speak with us loud and clear on what burdens our heart.

More importantly, we’ll get to spend quality time, releasing the cares of life while experiencing his presence that fills us with joy, peace and love. Leaving us with his sweet aroma (savor, fragrance) for us to spread to others.

There are benefits which result from spending time with Jesus. Besides leaving his aroma upon us, we will encounter his peace. We can’t and will not receive peace from the world!! The peace we need can only come from Jesus, the world can’t give it, nor can the world take it away. (John 14:27)

I don’t know about you, but I want the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. (Phil 4:7)

I need his understanding, wisdom and peace in every area of my life.

We see in the story of Mary and Martha. Jesus came to visit them while Mary was sitting at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said, Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had been made. (Luke 10:39-40) Martha got upset and asked Jesus to tell Mary to help her. But Jesus replied, “few things are needed-or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42) Jesus made it clear that Mary has chosen what is better, which is spending time listening to Him. While all the preparations were important, they were not as important than spending time with Jesus. (Living Revelations)

Will you be like Mary and choose to sit before the feet of Jesus? Nothing is more needed than carving out time with Jesus.

Jesus says, in John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Scheduling time daily with Jesus is the most rewarding and fulfilling date you will ever have in your life. As a matter of fact, your time with Jesus will solidify and make plain every other date in your life.

So, set a time to spend with Jesus and show up expecting to receive all that you need!!

I guarantee, the more time you spend with Jesus, the more time you will want to spend with Jesus.
